Skin Foundation Africa (SFA), through its flagship outreach platform The Skin Messiah, partnered with Agyebert Pharmacy Ltd in Kumasi to deliver free skincare consultation and education to the public — in a collaborative effort that also saw support from Ruderm Ghana, Good Example Pharmacy, and Joli Baume on Snapchat.

Bringing Expert Skincare Closer to the Community

In a significant stride towards promoting accessible and evidence-based skincare across Ghana, Skin Foundation Africa (SFA), under The Skin Messiah initiative, organised a free community skincare outreach at Agyebert Pharmacy Ltd, near True Vine Hotel, Kumasi.

The event featured free dermatological consultations, personalised skincare education, and complimentary product donations, led by Ghanaian dermatologist Dr. Kofi Ansah Brifo — widely known as The Skin Messiah for his compassionate, science-driven approach to skin health advocacy.

The outreach sought to bridge the gap between dermatological care and the public by offering expert assessment, guidance on common skin conditions, and education on appropriate product use for various skin types and concerns.

Strong Partnerships for Public Health Impact

The initiative was made possible through collaborative support from some of Ghana’s most trusted skincare and pharmaceutical brands. • Ruderm Ghana provided Ruderm Sunscreen SPF 60, one of the flagship sun protection products known for its efficacy on African skin tones. • Good Example Pharmacy contributed Nuvit Capsules, a scientifically formulated supplement for skin nourishment. • Joli Baume on Snapchat offered a range of Dermavive products and Dermaoat Max Lotion, enriching the event’s product giveaways and public demonstrations.

These partnerships underscore the power of cross-sector collaboration in promoting dermatological wellness, ensuring that effective skincare is not a privilege but a public right.

Commitment to Education and Prevention

In an interview during the event, Dr. Brifo highlighted the importance of education, prevention, and accessibility in addressing the rising burden of dermatological conditions in Ghana.

“Our goal is not just to treat, but to teach. Skincare awareness should begin in the community, not only in the consulting room. By bringing dermatological knowledge to the people, we empower them to take control of their skin health — with science, not myths.” — Dr. Kofi Ansah Brifo

Participants benefited from one-on-one consultations, skin analysis, and advice on topics including acne, hyperpigmentation, eczema, and sun protection — issues increasingly common in urban and peri-urban settings due to climate, lifestyle, and unregulated product use.

A Pharmacy’s Promise: Accessible, Quality Healthcare

Agyebert Pharmacy Ltd, the host of the event, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national skincare awareness and promoting responsible pharmaceutical practices. Representatives from the pharmacy encouraged the public to rely on licensed, community-trusted pharmacies for all skincare and medical needs, emphasising quality assurance and patient safety as top priorities.

“We are proud to partner with Skin Foundation Africa in this initiative. Agyebert Pharmacy believes in quality, trust, and accessibility — values that align perfectly with Dr. Brifo’s mission to make dermatological care available to everyone,” a spokesperson stated.

Towards a Healthier, More Informed Ghana

This outreach forms part of the broader vision of Skin Foundation Africa (SFA) — a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing dermatology education, research, and outreach across Ghana and Africa.

Through its flagship campaigns like the Summer Skin Project (SSP) and The Skin Messiah Community, SFA continues to bridge the gap between science and society, ensuring that dermatological care is inclusive, affordable, and compassionate.

Dr. Brifo expressed his gratitude to all partners and reaffirmed his commitment to building a culture of informed skincare in Ghana:

“Healthy skin is not a luxury — it’s a right. Together with our partners, we’ll continue to expand outreach, train young doctors, and empower the public to embrace safe, evidence-based skincare practices.”
